A Little Reflection on 2012

Well, here we are at the end of another December, and it's time to look back and remember all the year's blessings.... and then make a list of commitments we hope to stick to next year. I've never been good at keeping my New Year Resolutions though, so here's a little reflection on my 2012. So much has changed since this time last year. But I have to say... I'm pretty darn happy with the way this year turned out. :)

In January, I was basketball homecoming queen. I had so much fun. I was honored to represent THS!
I can't believe this was almost a year ago!
The next day, I auditioned for Belmont's School of Music. Then, in March, I made the decision to attend Belmont. Until I got to school, I felt nervous (and a little guilty) about my decision, but now I see that it was the best choice for me.

In May, I graduated from Tullahoma High School! Graduation was so bittersweet.. I was afraid to leave the comfort of high school, home, and Tullahoma, but I know that without THS I would not be where I am today.

I miss my straight-across bangs!
After a spectacular (and long!) summer, I moved to Nashville for school. I am so blessed. I met a great group of friends who help me through the most difficult days. And now I even have a boyfriend! :O

Graham and me in the fall! Not the best picture of me, but aren't we presh?
My first semester at Belmont was stressful... but wonderful. I was enrolled in 2 honors classes, 4 music classes, private horn lessons, and 3 ensembles. I ended the semester with 1 B+, 7 A's, and 3 P's (for "pass" in a pass/fail course). I also performed in 14 concerts and worked ahead in piano so I can skip the next piano course.

This is from Christmas at Belmont. We performed 3 2-hour-long concerts in one weekend!
Needless to say, I am glad to be home for 3 weeks of rest. Next semester, I'll take 2 more honors courses, 6 music courses, and 3 ensembles. Hopefully I'll be more efficient and organized than I was this semester! After one semester, though, I have definitely seen that Belmont is the place for me.

2012 threw several challenges my way, but each one of them was an opportunity for me to learn a little more about myself. Now, here's to a great Christmas and an unforgettable new year!
